Does anybody else feel it’s a bit heavy-handed to include in this guy’s >obit that he was disappointed in his children for not becoming radio >amateurs?

I agree it sounds a bit jarring; rather depends if it was written by one of said chiidren, or by an embittered old fellow amateur.
