Questions about using power tool batteries for a portable rig.

I have a TON of m18 batteries for work, all of them are at least 5AH @ 18V (Milwaukee M18)
I was thinking about building a portable 50W radio w/ accessories into a pelican case that Ive had lying around.. and would love to use the
batteries that I have as a power source.
I was thinking something along the lines of: M18 battery -> Low voltage
cutoff -> Buck converter down to 12v -> Radio and accs.
    Questions:
Does this seem like a half decent plan?
Are buck converters generally clean enough for radio usage?
Any product recommendations for this application? submitted by /u/223specialist

Anybody have experience with this 5.6m (18 foot) telescoping vertical?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2022 04:45 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/vgzbpj/anybody_have_experience_with_this_56m_18_foot/

Im getting ready for portable operations on HF, and am considering a
vertical, with loading for lower bands. I know about 17 telescoping
verticals from Chameleon and MFJ, but I saw one on Ebay that was a foot or
so longer (slightly better for 10 MHz and down), and (hard to ignore)
several green stamps cheaper. The M10 stud is only very slightly beefier
than the 3/8" UNF thread on the others.
    Heres an example listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125318585779
If you have first- or second-hand experience with this antenna, what are
your thoughts? TU submitted by /u/root_127-0-0-1

Can someone recommend a good HF receiver for handmade development for
    beginner?

Is there a good handmade HF receiver circuit diagram? It would be cool if
there is also a PCB for Sprint layout or something. Im looking for 7-7,2
MHz, but other frequencies are also suitable
    Thank you! submitted by /u/DreyanShkovgor

is it necessary to have a separate ground wire?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2022 10:26 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/vgdv5i/is_it_necessary_to_have_a_separate_ground_wire/

Im going to get my first radio soon. I can see it has a terminal for a
ground wire, so I wonder if I should run a new wire just for this?
