Anyone in the Denver, CO area want to do some 2m CW?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 08:13 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/v99zke/anyone_in_the_denver_co_area_want_to_do_some_2m_cw/

Im a little rusty and want to practice a little for Field Day. Plus, I have
an FT-818 that can do CW on 2m so why not? Hit me up for a sked. Im in Centennial.
I can also do 6m or 440. submitted by /u/minorsecond

    DSP module for Yaesu 817/818?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 07:42 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/v99b3d/dsp_module_for_yaesu_817818/

    Good morning all,
Has anyone tried using/installing one of these? https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/sbm-lb-module-cw?seid=dxese1&gclid=CjwKCAjw14uVBhBEEiwAaufYx801yHS6wYfk8Ci8DN-RkkeonS4FD8JiAW_DAe8HId2YEeEWE8KweRoC4GgQAvD_BwE
It is the SOTAbeams LASERBEAM DSP Filter. The reason why I ask is that I am
a fan of my 818 and would like to take it out more often, but my 891 has
such a better receive experience with a little use of the DSP that causes
me to SOTA or travel with a much heavier rig.
Would this give me the filtering experience I crave? (It doesnt have to
match the 891 perfectly, but cleaning up some QRM would help.
What about installation? How was that for anyone who has tried? My SMD soldering skills are not good, but my through hole soldering is "not
    horrible."
Do you think I could make this happen?
    Thanks in advance!
Edit: I think I meant to like the variable audio DSP Filter https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/sbm-lb-vari?rrec=true I didnt realize SOTAbeams came out with so many varieties of this filter! submitted by /u/Ok_Yogurtcloset404

What's up with the hate towards CB?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 10:00 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/v9cabl/whats_up_with_the_hate_towards_cb/

I get that HAM is more official than CB, but as someone coming from CB to
HAM Ive received a lot of hate for some reason. Ive been told that "CB
idiots dont do HAM" and "HAM radio is way too advanced for a dumbass that
does CB". I dont know why so many hams hate CB. submitted by

    Anyone tried QTCSDR recently? (RPI)

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 12:25 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/v925v3/anyone_tried_qtcsdr_recently_rpi/

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone here had had any success installing and running qtcsdr on their Raspberry Pi’s. Many of the dependencies have been since moved or are no longer available, so my attempts at getting it to run have been futile. Does anyone have any advice or resources on how I could
get this to work? Will post on the rpi subreddit too if this isn’t the
right location for this question. submitted by /u/Cautious-Roof3917

feed line not connected in shack and RF?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 06:04 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/v97bot/feed_line_not_connected_in_shack_and_rf/

All my antennas are up in my attic, and I have a couple feedlines (coax)
coming down to my shack. I have a MLA+ loop up there in the finished
section, and then Im going to put a dipole up right under the eave of the
roof. Heres my question: when I transmit on the dipole, Im assuming the
loop will pick up that signal since its only 10 feet away or so. Will it be
a problem if that feedline is in my shack, but not connected to anything?
In short, if the shack end of my feed line isnt connected to anything, can
a lot of RF still come out of it? submitted by /u/physical_kid
