Newb question on transmitting
Hi all newbie tech here. I have a couple Baofengs, a pair of uv5r and a BF-F8HP. I have entered the frequency for a local repeater 147.120. I have
the offset at +.6 and the tone set at 100 on T CTCSS according to the
listing on a repeater site. I can hear people talk all day long. If I key
up and let go I can hear that repeater noise after on both the one I keyed
and the one I have sitting across the room. When I key up and give my call
sign I hear no voice. What the heck am I doing wrong or not doing?? (I know
it is probably something simple…) submitted by /u/BarefootT

does anyone know how to create a cw pushbutton? I have seen the prices
(with shipping) and it is not enough for me, I have some wooden plates,
screws, cables, soldering iron, etc. Could you make a cw button with those materials? If Im missing any material, please let me know (and if you ask,
I didnt find tutorials in my language either, so its a bit complicated for
me via video tutorials or posts) submitted by /u/Dismal_Newt_5565

Going deaf (the radio, not me)

I run an APRS i-gate that has been up for years. Lately it seems to have
gone a bit deaf. The APRS stuff isnt really the point of my question, but I think it shows why Im asking. I used to hear and report many hundreds of packets from a handful of mountain top repeaters, but now it might report
only 5 or 8 in a 10 day period. Another nearby gateway isnt showing a
similar drop.
The setup is a TM-v71a, lmr 400 to outside to an open sub j pole similar to
an arrow OSJ 146/440.
Where do I start the troubleshooting? submitted by /u/OutdoorsNSmores

Looks like the Baofeng GT-5R does not have any spur emissions and is
restricted to ham frequencies only

Kenwood d74 GPS

New to the hobby, and just scored a D74. I brought it home today (I live in portland,or) and have not been able to pick up a GPS lock. I’m not sure if this is normal, and there is a good chance that I’m missing something but I’m hoping for a little help. The manual states that the gps satellite icon is supposed to blink when attempting to connect with a gps satellite, and
so far I haven’t seen it attempt to connect. I completed a reset without luck. Any thoughts? 73 submitted by /u/happyastronaut

Motorola XTS2500 Encrypted Tactical Inhibit - how to disable?
Posted: 28 Mar 2022 06:32 PM PDT

Hi all,
I recently picked up an XTS2500 for use on 70cm. I love it so far, but its
a USMC surplus radio, so the flashcode contains H02 Encrypted Tactical
Inhibit. I dont want to deal with a bricked radio if I press the wrong
button, and from what Ive read CPS doesnt allow you to uncheck the inhibit.
Ive heard there are other ways to disable the feature but I have no idea
what those would be. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks. submitted by /u/autosear
