    2.4 GHz Balun reccomendation?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2022 10:03 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/t5krr5/24_ghz_balun_reccomendation/

Ive designed and optimized a Yagi-Uda antenna in MMANA-GAL (although I
wasnt certain what I shouldve been prioritizing).
The driven element is a folded dipole.
Ive heard from many sources that connecting Coax to the folded dipole isnt
as simple as just soldering wires, instead a device known as a "balun" is needed.
Unfortunately, all guides/recommendations for baluns are either purchased (which Im not allowed to do) or theyre for like 10-50MHz.
What simple balun could I use to connect the coax feedline from a 2.4GHz
    signal to the folded dipole?
    Seeking any recommendations/suggestions
    Thank you! submitted by /u/-AllShallKneel-

How to find frequencys of Hytera PD506

    Posted: 02 Mar 2022 10:11 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/t5kwi5/how_to_find_frequencys_of_hytera_pd506/

Hi! I just got licensed and got my HT (yes, a Baofeng UV-5R, don’t judge
me) but VHF and UHF waves aren’t very popular here in my area, with that in mind, in my breaks I want to scan for the frequencies of the radios Hytera PD506 of the company where I work at. I suspect the radios there have been programmed with custom channels (or not) since I couldn’t find any ‘default’ channels online for this model/brand. I want to be able to save the 3 channels they use. And I know it probably have a Tone to figure it
out but I figure that part later…
Any tips for how to scan and find the frequencies easily?
(I don’t want to ask anyone there for the frequencies because nobody would know and also I don’t want anybody there to find out that I have a radio) (Sorry for any grammar mistakes, English is not my primary language)

    Under-the-hat Headphones for SSB?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2022 09:51 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/t5kk64/underthehat_headphones_for_ssb/

Im looking for recommendations for quality headphones that (a) work well
for sideband voice, (b) block ambient local sound, and (c) I can wear under
a hat. The hats I wear arent generally "ball cap" style, but rather tend to
be big (think fedora) or oddly shaped (Ive got multiple hats shaped like sharks, for example). A boom mic is optional; Im perfectly happy using a separate hand or desk microphone.
Ive read previous Reddit threads about headphones so I know that headphones designed for communication are likely to do a better job for SSB operation
than quality music headphones, since the latter have a broader frequency response and will therefore pass through more noise. Unfortunately, most of
the recommended headphones have a thick padded band on top which makes it difficult to wear under hat, and my hats are bulky enough that over-the-hat usually doesnt work at all. Im hoping for something with a thin top band,
like old Walkman phones but with ear cups for good sound isolation.
Monaural is fine. submitted by /u/flwyd
