• Silly camera scene in TV show

From RichA@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jan 30 21:30:04 2022
TV show about police bomb disposal experts called Trigger Point.
Someone recording evidence in the bomb factory is using an old Zenit (Russian) FILM camera!! I guess they didn't have enough money to buy a used $200 DSLR.

In forensics, and old film camera is better than an old digital camera.

It's no sillier than the ubiquitous scenes in television and film where
a darkroom with red light is used to develop film that cannot be used
    with a red safelight.

And the special image enhancing software that they use with a pretty standard webcam and they can get a sharp crisp image
from a reflection in a shop widow.
There's some great ones in the old Bond movies where the computers make noises and flash different coloured lights as they
    'compute'

apparently you missed that it's out of stock, as well as bond didn't
    use pdp-11s.

Yes, that's another old chestnut. We're starting to see AI software
that promises to do that. Of course, the enhanced image is a
modification and not a reliable sharpened version of what was actually captured.

Minority Report had a good interface. People have tried to replicate
that. I'm not sure how usable it would actually be.

I expect they will train them using mug shots of known villains.
