You NEVER give dogs ice in water. It is very dangerous for them possibly causing bloat. Ice bad for puppy
My dog sometimes gags after drinking water. Does anyone else's dog do this? Does anyone know why this would happen? I am not assuming that it is a major problem or indication of sickness (one of the few times I have not run to the vet when my baby does something out of the ordinary!) - I hope I am correct in
this assumption!
Thank you for your responses/insights.

Dorothy and C.C., a very spoiled dachshund My Rottie is gagging every time she drinks water, and she is getting worse. she is 4 yrs. she use to eat blankets and sheets when she was a puppy, and I am wondering if she hurt her throat. She wants me to rub
My Milo does this all the time. It's a process that goes like this:
coff, coff, coff, HACK! He doesn't do it again until after he drinks
again. It usually follows long thirsty draughts. He's a miniature
dachshund (long-hair (like that matters)).

Cough caused by tracheal irritation or tracheal collapse often occurs
when the pet is excited or is tugging on its collar. Cough caused by
heart disease may follow exercise or excitement. Cough due to
tracheal collapse may be stimulated by drinking water.
