Yeah see I'm curious about this too. One of my "male" budgies is nearly 2 years old now and until 3 weeks ago has always had a very prominently blue cere (which, I believed, was why he bossed his older brother around, as that budgie had a purple cere but
was definitely male according to tests). Recently, my little fella's cere has started looking pink. It's not looking to go brown like a female's, but it's definitely pink. And out of the two baby females I got 3 weeks ago (4 months old) both had
prominently brown ceres and now one is starting to look pink also.
Clueless.
