I allege that the question that should be being asked and answered is:
Who has been/is responsible to ensure that stuff in the room stays in
the room? Regardless of the answer, in a reasonably non-dumbassed
world, it should literally lead to more questions until the root of
the problem is revealed at the end of the day.
