Maybe that book was filled with dirty pictures? It seems like current conservatives would like to compare it with the IRS, herding true believers into boxcars, to be shipped off to empty Walmart's?

"History is not there for you to like or dislike. It is there for you to learn from it. And if it offends you, even better. Because then you are less likely to repeat it. It's not yours to create or destroy."
In this instance the objection probably wasn't because of the
history. Some folks are worried that their kid's school books will
incline them to express their sexuality in ways they would not approve
of, or maybe make them insufficiently opposed to the many alternatives.
"“When we got ‘The Diary of Anne Frank,’ we thought, ‘This is a joke.’
But it wasn’t,” Hawes said, adding that the complaint was that “the book shouldn’t be read without parent supervision.” She suspected that the parent may have objected to the unabridged diary’s references to female genitalia, same-sex attraction and other sexual matters, which have been
deemed “pornographic” by parental challenges in the past. But she couldn’t be sure because the parent who challenged the book didn’t show
up to the meeting."
I thought it was a hoot that they also banned the Bible. For that
book the supervision of a competent and rational adult would probably be
a good idea.
The unreal history we were taught is mostly just propaganda.
That's what a lot of people want. It must be confusing for some folks.
How can history, of all things, change?
