I've been to Zion several times and I have experienced the delays each
time. Only once did I drive an RV through the park. It's just not
convenient. What bothers me more is the need to have a reservation to
take a shuttle to get to the more scenic areas. I really prefer to my sightseeing on my own schedule. Oh, well.

We geezers with lifetime National Park passes should get some special dispensation.

    It's just not convenient.

We were there in mid March, and drove that stretch both
directions. The trailer was parked at a place in Leeds, so that
drive was just in my Acadia. It was challenging enough as it was,
and I'd sure not want to drag my smallish trailer (Lance 1475)
    that way.

We later left southern Utah via scenic 12, and driving that
hogback stretch with a trailer was scary af.

...What bothers me more is the need to have a reservation
to take a shuttle to get to the more scenic areas. I really
prefer to my sightseeing on my own schedule. Oh, well.

I wonder if it's seasonal. We did not need to schedule the
shuttle when there in mid March. Though, even that early in the
season the park was quite busy.

    Lol

At the end of our lives hopefully going forward, I'm just glad that we
got most of our travel/camping done back when it was: Reservation?
What's a reservation? Our plan back then was: About an hour before
sundown, find a place to park, pee, unhitch, start a fire, start
sipping my rye, and set up the grill.

damright. And add doctors and dentists and rocket launches to that. I
mean, hey. What does it matter now if a piece of a rapid unscheduled disassembly falls on me? There are worse ways to shuffle forward into
    the great unknown.

Same here but I’m not ready to park the rig just yet. There are ways around some of the restrictions. Get there early, before they man the kiosks or
later after they close them. Most tourists are not up early or have found a place to park, pee, unhitch and are sipping rye in the evenings. I am a self-described landscape photographer so early or late hours suit me.
That’s when you get the best light.

For sure, the important things. I don’t need free coffee from McDonalds.
