It's simulated intelligence. Simulated more or less badly.
Sometimes seems to give intelligent responses, but prone
to wildly ridiculous outputs, like the Google AI recommending
drinking urine, or the A"I" generated scientific papers and
legal briefs that had entirely fictitious references.

On the whole, there's no more intelligence there than in
the old 1970s vintage Eliza program. It's just more elaborate.

You could be right. Every now and then, it feels like I'm talking to
Eliza's ghost.

Back n the late 70s I thought maybe I should learn a little about these personal computer things. I wrote a rudimentary Basic program similar to Eliza. It gave straight, simple answers ( marginally better than a Magic
Eight Ball). It did amaze the kids though. It was still more accurate than these woke biased AI programs of today. .
