Anyone else having significantly delayed deliveries? I've had a couple
of packages inexplicably stuck for days at various places along the
delivery route. The local post office here blames it on the
"reorganization" the USPS is experiencing.
The USPS has become an organization where there is little accountability
of lousy employees. I just wish I could get the person who puts the
mail in my box to close the damn door. I've had to call twice
complaining, and now keep a log of every time I go to get the mail and
the damn door is open.
Anyway, I know exactly what you speak of. During the winter I was doing computer upgrades. I had ordered a Samsung SSD from Amazon and it
shipped USPS immediately. Then the problem began. It was stuck in a
loop going from San Francisco, to Oakland, to San Jose. It went back to
San Fran and did the same loop day after day. Amazon actually contacted
me after a week and said I could get my money refunded if I wanted. So
I did so and went looking for another SSD.
I found that Samsung actually had the same SSD on sale for $30 less at
their own site, so I ordered another one from their site. They shipped
via FedEx. It was supposed to be here in 2-3 days. It actually arrived
at my local FedEx distribution center the morning of the 2nd day before
6AM. I figured I'd get it that day or the next.
In the meantime, I noticed Amazon had not credited my account, so I had
to contact them again and spent another 45 minutes on the phone getting
my money for the SSD USPS had lost.
For the next 5 days the FedEx site showed the package in the same
facility and it was not moving. I contacted them directly and after two
days in an email they said, "After exhausting all search options, we
haven't been able to locate this shipment. Please inform your shipper
so they may contact us regarding a claim."
They gave a case and reference number which I then called Samsung,
explained, and gave the numbers to. They said they would refund my
money so I could try again to get the drive I still needed.
So I went and got another drive at a brick and mortar location so I
actually had one in my hands and could do the work. I finished the
upgrade.
2 days after I bought the third drive, mysteriously the one from Amazon
showed up from USPS. Amazon had told me I could keep it, use it, give
it away, or throw it out if it ever arrived. They had fulfilled their
promises and I appreciated that.
However, Samsung had not done what they said and refunded my money for
the drive FedEx had lost. The next day, out of no where FedEx delivered
the drive I had purchased from Samsung. My wife was unaware of all this
mess and upon getting the package, opened it up, threw out the
packaging, and placed it on my desk in my office. I already had
purchased another drive and now called Samsung again to see where my
refund was, to which they told me I would have to repackage the item and
send it back since FedEx had delivered the item and had closed the case.
I was shocked that these guys can do business like this. FedEx was the
one who told me to contact them so they could make a claim and get their
money. Samsung was the one who told me they would refund my money,
which I needed to purchase the other drive. I had no intention of
spending one more minute finding packaging, going to the place to drop
off the package, or spend any more time on the phone with them. They
simply did not honor what they said they would do, unlike Amazon
properly did.
I did complain to both FedEx and Samsung after they both sent me emails
asking me to rate their wonderful service. Neither had the decency to
do anything. Ass Holes!
