Yes I’ve heard some of the Lyric Pieces and the big op 24 variations. I am always struck by his elegance and poise, and the feeling of control and clear vision. Such patrician playing!

I like Steen-Nøkleberg's Grieg, too. Howie's chosen adjective ('patrician') does ring true. These are great works, and I find I seldom hear them played in a style with which I find great disagreement. Integrales are few and far between, but one I really
enjoy often is Antonio Pompa-Baldi on Centaur. I believe most or all of the discs are o.o.p. Recorded in the aughts.

Agreed. Pompa-Baldi is very easy to listen to. His Grieg doesn't sound as if it were composed in an ice cave.
