My favourite magazine published an 'English translation' [sic] of a musical score (N.B. typos are part of the score):

'one performer
the performer determines a sound.
the duration of the performance is not
determined.the performer does not use a watch.
the performer plays the sound lasting three to
seven seconds three times during the duration
of the performance.
for itself.simple.

I have to thank a Dutch pianist for the following explanation:

'If in a performance only three sounds in a performance are intentionally made ... how can they not be monumental?'

The piece is monumental unless the listener can prove otherwise.

BTW, the repetition of 'in a performance' in the explanation is as meaningful as the third note in the score

On both statements of monumentality, I would shift the presumption /burden of proof.

I think the Dutch piano player in question is either being a puckish prankster or a serious charlatan...

Sample size is too small for me to be conclusory
