I was a little surprised people need
help to find Pletnev on youtube. But
I guess it's something along the lines
of "How many pianophiles does it take
to screw in a lightbulb?"

HenkI’m not really advocating for any version fully - but Arrau’s kind of anti-virtuoso approach doesn’t automatically translate into superior musicality IMO.

I would be very interested in how Martha Argerich would have performed this in her prime. I imagine her as being perhaps the ideal interpreter of Islamey.HenkI’m not really advocating for any version fully - but Arrau’s kind of anti-virtuoso approach doesn’t automatically translate into superior musicality IMO.

I do have a private YT playlist that includes
all Pletnev recordings as of a few months
ago. I need to check and trim the contents
and will release it to the group in a couple
of days.
