    all Pletnev recordings as of a few months
    ago. I need to check and trim the contents

    I was a little surprised people need help to find Pletnev on youtube.
    But I guess it's something along the lines of "How many pianophiles does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

    They certainly do. Yet, I get the impression that Horowitz has no affinity for this music. His adaptations are musically no improvements.

    No. I do not see any candles
    in the version you mentioned.

    I also don't like orchestral
    trasncriptions of piano works.
    They all sound like invititing
    the police to join a private
    party in one's home.

    I’m not really advocating for any version fully - but Arrau’s kind of anti-virtuoso approach doesn’t automatically translate into superior musicality IMO.

    I would be very interested in how Martha Argerich would have performed this in her prime. I imagine her as being perhaps the ideal interpreter of Islamey.

    Indeed. I'd be interested too. She learned Gaspard in two weeks,Islamey would have taken her only a few days.

    Agreed. But Arrau's version does sound more like music to me than many other versions.
