were totally seperate entities (despite UK Decca distributing US Decca

I was just about to post as you requested and explain that you were okay
but couldn't access the group, when I saw that you finally did get
Richard to open the door and let you in. Good list. Surprised to see
that Lightnin' Hopkins record (one of the few by him that I really like)
    was on Decca!

    lived
with and loved as a kid first time around instead of having to look back
on them like nearly all the rockabilly that I like

    29 ¦ Modern Don Juan ¦ Buddy Holly - 56

He made so many much MUCH better records than this one. I've never
warmed to it very much and it was a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way from making
    my "25"

    86 ¦ Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On ¦ Roy Hall - 55

I've made my feelings clear on this one many times before.Suffice to say
that it is light years behind the supreme JLL version and also the Big
    Maybelle original that it covers

    93 ¦ Shake, Rattle And Roll ¦ Bill Haley & Comets - 541

One of the few numbers where the cover gets a 10 as well as the even
    better Joe Turner original

    219 ¦ Make Like A Rock And Roll ¦ Don Woody - 56

Never understood the popularity of this guy with the r&r circuit over
here.I always found his records pretty milky mild, nothing very exciting

    224 ¦ Jingle Bell Rock ¦ Bobby Helms - 57

Junk Christmas pop that I disliked from the first time I heard it on
    radio

    427 ¦ Choo-Choo-Ch' Boogie ¦ Louis Jordan - 46
    457 ¦ Saturday Night Fish Fry ¦ Louis Jordan - 49
    480 ¦ Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop ¦ Lionel Hampton - 46
    452 ¦ Boogie Woogie Blue Plate ¦ Louis Jordan - 47

Of course these would at or very near the top if I extended my list back
    that far

    678 ¦ Easter Bunny Boogie ¦ Willie Brown - 51

Only just missed my list but of course this one

    742 ¦ Cadillac Boogie ¦ Willie Brown - 51

    is included there!

I wasn't aware that "Rudy's Rock" and "The Saints Rock And Roll" were
rock 'n' roll classics. Thank you for enlightening me!

    29 ¦ Modern Don Juan ¦ Buddy Holly - 56

He made so many much MUCH better records than this one.

He made ZERO records better than this one, it's his best.

I've made my feelings clear on this one many times before.Suffice to say

I have the Hall as slightly better than the Jerry Lee, and a pretty good
amount better than the Maybelle, but all 3 versions are tens.

Opposite for me. Many later rockabilly bands have recorded and/or played
    this song live.

    224 ¦ Jingle Bell Rock ¦ Bobby Helms - 57

Junk Christmas pop that I disliked from the first time I heard it on

My favorite Xmas record. Where did it finish in that long ago Christmas
    Poll you did here?

    427 ¦ Choo-Choo-Ch' Boogie ¦ Louis Jordan - 46
    457 ¦ Saturday Night Fish Fry ¦ Louis Jordan - 49

Other than the Hampton they all fall within the parameters of the years
that YOU SAY are the ones that we cover here.

CORRECTION, "Choo-Choo" is also before the years that we supposedly
    cover here.

No problem! You need to remember that rock 'n' roll was popular over
here and across Europe too. If anything Haley was EVEN BIGGER here (and
in Europe) than he was in USA.And it lasted a long time too. He was
still appearing live regularly over here almost until his death.

Of course the Jerry Lee is a 10 that goes without saying. Maybelle

It finished #12 but I still can't stand the record

No,these label-by-label lists are covering 1950-1963. Going back into
the 40's needs much more research I'm afraid.
