One of my local pizza places recently changed hands. The new owner had piped-in music put in. For a person of my tastes, that could have been disastrous. However, the channel to which it was tuned this evening
played nothing but songs from 1956! Among the selections I heard while
eating dinner:
DON'T BE CRUEL, Elvis Presley
EDDIE MY LOVE, The Teen Queens
JUMP, JIVE AND WAIL, Louis Prima
OOBY DOOBY, Roy Orbison
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, James Brown
R-O-C-K, Bill Haley & The Comets
SINGING THE BLUES, Marty Robbins
SLIPPIN' AND SLIDIN', Little Richard
STRANDED IN THE JUNGLE, The Cadets
THE WAYWARD WIND, Gogi Grant
YOU CAN'T CATCH ME, Chuck Berry
(You've Got) THE MAGIC TOUCH, The Platters
Your post reminded me that I had NEVER tasted pizza until the very first
time I visited the USA in 1968. There were just no pizza places over
here and none of the stores or supermarkets stocked them
Now of course they are everywhere especially in London since the "americanization" of our capital city
P.S Of course I should add that I LOVE the stuff--and sadly have the
waistline to prove it !! :)
