till
it hurts on my pick as his most fiery instrumental of 1953

15. LIGHTS OUT – LITTLE WALTER
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEQzZIOOGvw
At a real solid funeral pace Walter blows up a sombre slow harp classic
on Checker that fittingly signals 1953’s end. Flip of the #2 r&b hit “You’re
So Fine”
16. WHAT! NO PEARLS – EARL BOSTIC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXV_WdUNvgU
Just about the best uptempo side to be heard from the saxy Mr Bostic in
1953 with much of his King label material being slow versions of
standards
17. JUKE BOX SHUFFLE – LOWELL FULSON
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLIKcIptvaQ
Decent enough outing by Lowell here fittingly with his last outing on
the Swing

as Sept 53

Theme from the great TV detective series starring Jack Webb. One of

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lhx0SyKaoOU
I have a permanent tussle gong on in my head as to which is the greatest
ever
Western movie. It’s betwixt Alan Ladd’s fabulous “Shane” and the unforgettable
“The Magnificent Seven”---both had great theme tunes and this orchestral piece
from Mister Jo Stafford is a fave of mine. Issued both US and UK on
Columbia
