Today in 1960: Stu, John, George, Paul, Pete and a waiter friend named
Helmut at Harold's Café on Hamburg's Grosse Freiheit. According to
George over 30 years later, Harold "used to give us cornflakes, and egg
and chips. And milk that probably saved us." According to Tony Sheridan:
"The Beatles always ate cornflakes with milk. At one time that seemed to
be their staple diet - and we all had tea." According to Paul: "They
would serve hamburgers called Frikadellen. We could never understand why
they didn't call them hamburgers in Hamburg."
