    from 1961 has a better sound than the Ventures later version

    single here in UK. The US single release was so belated all the sales on
    the number has long gone

    It's not a cover. It's from 1959, 3 years after the Burnette version.

    I quite agree its not a cover because a) the "6.5 Special" movie is from
    1958 and b) Jim Dale's very dire version of "The Train Kept A-Rollin'"
    never appeared on a commercial record until quite recent years
