    fwiw, I've not heard or seen Blinkin's name listed as a potential
    candidate; and he'd be up against better known and better financed
    Democrats; btw, one alleged downside of Blinkin, for some at least,
    is that he leans towards military intervention - for instance it's
    claimed that he thought the US should have taken a tougher stance in
    Syria

    there have been persistent rumors, Roger, that Michelle Obama
    could be the Democrat's candidate, even though she has explicitly
    stated that she is not interested in running for the presidency

    as for the US equivalent of UK Home Secretary there is not a one for
    one equivalence

    rightly or wrongly I took an instant liking to Anthony Blinkin at the
    time he was appointed Secretary; for one thing I am struck by how

    He's not very well known. Most people have no idea who the sec of state is. He's also never run for office, this is a position that's appointed by the president and then must be confirmed by a majority of the senate.

    Not that this would prove anything as hetero men and hetero women are not the same, but I find that women looking at other women are not looking at the same things that we are.
