Its well known that The Beatles first UK tour in February 1963 was supporting (as 4th on the bill) British songstress Helen Shapiro.
EMI A&R man Norrie Paramor asked them to compose a song for her which was "Misery"
Paramor rejected it for Shapiro as being "unsuitable" but another artist on the same tour---Kenny Lynch----recorded it instead thus becoming the first artist to cover a Beatles song.
But to be accurate I have a date of 15 March 1963 for the Lynch release and 22 March the definite release date of "Please Please Me" the first Beatles LP (that contains "Misery")---thus making the Lynch 45 the first released version of the song

Is this a stunt from a TV show or something?
