McCartney's letter is wonderfully terse, but I'm surprised he merely wanted Spector's added noises to be reduced.

Glyn Johns, who made the original LiB recordings, deemed Spector's work "disgusting" and vomitous.

After watching a couple of documentaries about The Beatles, it's also clear to me how far and lost John was entangled in Yoko's webs...what a shame!

John's drug- and Yoko-addled brain is to blame for the involvement of the likes of Alex Mardas, Spector, and Klein. He made some very insulting comments about the Glyn Johns recordings prior to Spector's additions.

In fact, Johns' recording style was to give the listener a sense of what it was like to be in the room with the band -- and he succeeded. The band (especially Lennon) just wasn't in the best shape at the time.
