Q: Did [John Lennon] talk to you about acid and its effects on him?
A: Well, I knew about it. I can't disclose specifics, but in general, I'll tell you this: LSD is the most devastating thing for mental health that ever existed. To this day, we see people who've been on LSD, and they have a different brain-wave pattern, as if their defenses are totally broken down. It stays.
Timothy Leary was in favor of ego-destruction. I think he destroyed so
many people by touting LSD. It's a very dangerous drug.

Saw something about LSD now being touted as a treatment for PTSD but
they're probably talking about "microdosing," not the serious tripping
done by Lennon and others back then.
I was watching the "Ed Sullivan's Rock & Roll Memories" on MeTV last
night and the announcer mentioned how Eric Burdon was kicked out of The
Animals because of his heavy LSD use, I had forgotten that if I ever
knew it. He did seem to have some serious health problems for many years
before he eventually passed away.
