Look how he dressed and coiffed: clean, all-american. They all presented that look. The Beatles too, with their jackets and ties.
Then within a few years, they evolved into shaggy freaks. Compare
Lennon 1962 vs. Lennon 1970. Frank Zappa, as another example.
At the start, his style was 'accounting major'.
So, had Holly survived, he would probably have gone through
those same transformations. We can imagine him and Lennon as
friends and artistic soul mates.
