Please pardon me while I do a little singer worshipping, but I just
finished listening to this Met broadcast with Jussi and Bidu Sayao. I
tell you folks, if those 2 don't culminate what beautiful singing is,
then I just don't know what beautiful singing is.
Both Sayao and Jussi sing passionately and beautifully. I got
gossebumps listening to those 2 sing passionately and effortlessly.
Sayao's Juliette's Waltz was absolutely thrilling! And Jussi's Ah
leve-toi was just gorgeous.
I wish all of you that haven't heard this could, because it is just the
best Romeo et Juliette on disc as far as I'm concerned. I think it puts Swenson's and Domingo's efforts to shame. :)
Unfortunately, I was lucky enough to get this. So, if you don't have
this recording already, you'll either have to hope that some record
store has this recording still or find some place in Europe. Because as
we all know too well that the Met is being little pricks with their broadcasts.
Oh well, this recording is just beautiful. I wish he had recorded the
role in the studio. But I should be thankful that we even have this.
