I am trying to find out some information which I have been trying to
find for quite a long time.
I have a very old Manuscript book and all the music is handwritten in
ink.
There is a 2/4 March named "Sydney Harbour" and was composed by a
Farquar E Finlayson. He also composed another 2/4 March named "Leaving Lochalsh".
Would anyone out there be able to assist me in finding out who this
Farquar E Finlayson was and where he was from. I have an idea he had something to do with Cape Breton, but don't quote me on this.
I would appreciate any information regarding him and also the tunes he composed as well.
Regards
Cameron
Hello Cameron - your post was a long tome ago but maybe you're still there. Farquhar Finlayson was my great uncle who left Lochalsh in Scotland late in the 1800s with his brother (my grandfather), Roderick. I can tell you quite a lot about them if you
are still around and still interested.
All the best,
Ian Jost
