I have been saving for a Santa Cruz Vintage artist that my local music
store had in stock for about year and that I loved. Last week I went in
to play it and put some moola down on it and it was gone, they had just
sold it the day before. I was bummed. I had played about 100 guitars
all over the cities and this was my favorite.
So, on my way home bummed I stopped by MARS to look around and saw a
cool looking Martin on the wall and thought I would give it a try. I
saw the SPD-16R designation inside and thought, "this will be a disappointment". It was amazing, and cheap! Honest to god, I have
$2500 burning a hole in my pocket for a Santa Cruz and I am about to buy
this $1100 Martin. It was balanced, full, loud and easy as hell to
play, plus it had some time ababolne trim, a snowflake markers and an upgraded Martin wood case. I played it for about an hour and compared
it to every other guitar I could find and loved it.
Anyone else played one of these? I am amazed how much I like it and how great it played compared to even the HD-28 on the wall and the Taylors.
How do they make them so cheap? Why are they so cheap? Am I missing something?
Thanks
Harry
