  • Seagull Guitar Bulge

    Hi there,

    I bought a Seagull S6 guitar 2 weeks ago while travelling and when I got back I noticed it had a bulge by the bass strings on the guitar. It seems to play well and I have had some people that it is normal but also some that seem to say that it could be
    bad. Any answers would be appreciated.

    It is a decent entry level guitar $ 400. Canadian dollars -
    < $ 300. US >
    Having it repaired or replaced might be more than its worth ?
    If it bugs you - dump it - if not - play the crap out of it !
    I like my 2 old Godin flat top dreads - S&P spruce/rosewood
    and Norman cedar/mahogany.
    If I remember correctly - Robt. Godin built his business
    on the Seagull - his guitars were built in a small Quebec town.

    It might be reacting to a change in location, higher humidity can cause the
    top to swell. It could also be caused by a brace coming loose or cracking,
    an easy fix for a luthier/repair tech. Get it checked out.

    A photograph would probably help - put it on DropBox or similar and
    post a link. But taking it to a reputable local luthier, as Steve
    Hawkins suggested, is probably the best approach.
