I know that renaissance music evolved from medieval music, just like how baroque evolved out of renaissance music, but did renaissance music evolve from any specific kind of medieval music, like ars nova or ars subtilior? Or was it something else? And
are there any works that could be called both medieval and renaissance at the same time?
