My opinion? I can take him or leave him. He is not an awful conductor, but
he is certainly overrated. At Tanglewood last season I saw him conduct Zarathustra, and I marveled at how in hell he can get away with the Tai Chi he was doing instead of conducting. The orchestra's playing was marvelous, however - apparently he hasn't harmed them too badly...
