  • VFR800 turn signal connector

    One of the wires on the right rear turn signal of my
    98 VFR800 broke off at the crimp. Does anybody know
    where to find a replacement connector/pins, or at least
    how to de-pin the original connector so I can splice
    something on? Ronayers.com fiche indicates no OEM parts.

    I'll hack something together if I must, but would rather
    at least try to preserve the original setup.

    Eastern Beaver is one source of replacement OEM connectors I've seen
    mentioned on Reddit. Never used them myself.

    again, never used them.

    If no suitable OEM connector or replacement pin can be found I would
    have no shame in clipping off the original connectors and crimping on
    a quality sealed replacement connectors on both sides of the junction.

    Usually a bright light, a magnifying loupe, and the Mk I eyeball will
    provide clues as to how to remove pins from connectors. Most often
    I find it's either you need to slide a sleeve over a pin, or there's
    a plastic retaining prong in the housing that needs to be pulled back.

    I seem to remember them from the days of reg/rec problems. Never used
    them either and since forgot. Alas, no obvious match for what I have.
    All their connectors look much more modern.

    The path of least resistance appears to be pigtails with individual
    miniature female spade receptacles. If I end up breaking the pins on
    the socket at least the sockets are still available. That helps a lot,
    since the socket is what has to fit the reflector.
