[slashem] Eye of the Beholder and (cascading) summoning storms

Recently I got in a cascading summoning storm at the Plane of Air again;
and died. All conventional means didn't help; conflict, taming monsters, drum-scaring monsters, instant stoning creatures with foo'trice corpses, teleporting the worst baddies away. (And boulder forts don't work there,
if I'm not mistaken.)
Has anyone any experiences in using the Eye of the Beholder there or in
similar situations? - Frankly, I don't think that this will effectively
help, since I think that this summoning situation at that open place is
so unbalanced that the effect of the Eye won't help. But maybe someone
tried it and can prove me wrong.
(Other suggestions appreciated as well.)
