• The invisible Yeenoghu escapes the dungeon!

From Joe Casserley@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jul 4 08:06:16 2022
I haven't come across this one before...

My current Healer ran into Yeenoghu while clearing out the VotD, and while not a threat he was just an annoyance as I couldn't get a decent hit in. So I waited until he was next to me, then levelported to Dlvl 1 figuring he couldn't run upstairs anymore.

Sure enough, cornered him on the upstairs and started pummeling. After a few hits:

You hit the invisible Yeenoghu! The invisible Yeenoghu escapes the dungeon!

So, will he be waiting for me along with Rodney when I enter the Planes? Or has he gone for good now?

    Thanks, Joe

A comment taken from the Slashem (NH-343 based) source code:

Monsters without amulets escape the dungeon and are
gone for good when they leave up the up stairs.

This is actually really good information and I doubt it's in the wiki.

Chaotics and others often purposefully summon these guys peaceful. You can then lead them to level one (or summon them at a low level altar) and beat on them a bit near the upstairs, getting them to leave and ridding yourself of them once and for all.
Not a bad trick, not bad at all.
