It appears that there's a bug in the statusline display in Nerfhack...
(Don't know whether that effect got inherited from other versions.)

(Note: below there might be spurious line-wraps from the newsreader.)

I played with the 2 lines default to see what I want, incl. encumbrance

but when switching to 3 lines the 'Burdened' status wasn't displayed
any more

so I had to revert to 2 lines again to see it.
