Answering my own post...
I just observed another player leaving Sokoban and reaching
that open area with the rivers that I mentioned below. - So
I obviously need some means to cross the river to get to the
Sokoban stairs. (Too bad that the [guaranteed(?)] scrolls of
earth are on the other side of the rivers.)

In the NerfHack variant I wonder where I can find Sokoban.
In most variants I yet played it had the entry as upstairs
on the level below the Oracle of Delphi; but those stairs
don't let me enter Sokoban but rather an open area, with
three vertical rivers prevent me from exploring the level
(I have neither water walking nor levitation). - I've seen
this outdoor level in other variants, but don't recall its
purpose - maybe it was the early entry to Vlad's tower or
some other special branch. Anyway, it wasn't Sokoban, and
there's no other stairs to be found below the Oracle level.
And if I inspect the dungeon #overview I get below list..

...which says that Sokoban is "solved"! - But I've never seen
any of the Sokoban maps that are defined in the dat/soko*.lua
files.
Can anyone explain what's going on here?
I'm playing the NerfHack 2.0.0 version on Hardfought (EU).
