• the problem with speed hacking

One of my games showed me this and that it was time to address the issue.

I picked up Dragonbane from the floor at 0 experience points.

I keep finding myself running into mobs, whether crashing into a room or roaming the hallways.

Losing Dragonbane (breaking it in from Unskilled) and then checking
nethack wiki - it has reflection and a notable to-hit bonus. Oooo, I
    was bitter about this loss.

What it is that I get into a rhythm and then a hypnotic state where I'm
not paying enough attention. I'll hit a floating eye, two rothes and a
giant bat, the worst placed grid bug...

I don't think my mind is capable of maintaining the attention necessary
    for fast traversal.

Cut the shit, speed hacking doesn't prove you're a master. It's
    irrelevant in many ways.

Tell me the proof is in the pudding, well, I just started careful
hacking over speed and don't have a whole lot of examples in my trophy
    case.

The moral of the story is speed hacking is not for you if your mind
tends to wander. The "texture" of nethack does not accommodate this.
One second you've got a few jackals making easy lunch the next second
you've got a pony kicking your ass.
