• It's difficult being a parent of more than one child

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Thu Aug 11 13:28:32 2022
Parents tend to claim that they love all their children just the same.
But the fact is that different children have different personalities,
and therefore may have different levels of appeal.
Unfortunately, favouritism often arises between siblings.

Therefore, even if you think XG and I, in the position below,
have positions that are of the same value, it's unlikely that you
would rate both sides the same way. Either my position or
XG's position must be your favourite.

    Whose position do you prefer?
    XG's or mine?

    And by how much?
And of course the position should take my current roll into account.
After all, parents will consider their child's recent actions when evaluating them.

I think I'd still prefer your position. Obviously, this roll leaves
you with an inflexible position with a lot of nearly-dead checkers.
You could leave a double direct shot soon when O has a strong board.
But having all your checkers escaped to the midpoint when you're
over 40 pips up in the race can cover over a multitude of sins.

Definitely want to be you and I don't see it as close.

I don't want to roll this out but XG's initial analysis gave me an edge of about 0.06 which is
in line with your thoughts. But I thought I was well behind here -- for one thing I've lost the cube.

Were the cube centered I would have shipped it, and I don't think X's
position has deteriorated, so I prefer X's position. I'd say 70 to 75%
    GWC for X.
