    It's true!
10 questions about shipwrecks. *Hint*: None of them are about

    1. A shipwreck is defined as the remains of a ship that has been
wrecked, whether it has sunk, or is floating on the surface of
the water. In maritime law, the terms "flotsam" and "jetsam"

    Bruce Peninsula National Park.

    Tobermory.

    3. The greatest loss of life -- 300 people -- on open water in
the Great Lakes was on 1860-09-08, when a first-class paddle
steamship was rammed by an unlit schooner 9 miles from shore
in Lake Michigan. This popular ship was named for the wife

other places in Ontario. Name the ship.

liner, widely known from the extensive media coverage of its
sinking in 1956, which included the remarkably successful rescue
of most of the passengers and crew. The ship was named after a
nobleman who was a military strategist, admiral, and political
leader of *which 16th-century northern Italian city-state*?

Genoa (Genova). 2 for Dan Blum and Pete.

    5. The RMS Lusitania was sunk on its 202nd trans-Atlantic crossing

    6. In 1120, a ship carrying the heir to the throne of England

civil war over the crown followed this disaster. Name the ship.

The White Ship. 4 for Dan Blum.

    7. An iconic work of French Romantic painting is "The Raft of the
<answer>", by Theodore Gericault, which immortalizes the
aftermath of an 1816 shipwreck, run aground off the coast
of Mauritania by her inept captain. The painting hangs in
the Louvre. Name the ship that completes its title.

    9. Beginning in 1569, 6 ships of the Royal Navy have borne a
traditional name. In 1744, the 4th of these ships sank in the
English Channel with the loss of its entire crew. No trace
of the 1,150 sailors was found until the wreck was discovered
    in 2008. Name the ship.

    HMS Victory.
