These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2024-10-21,
and should be interpreted accordingly.
On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.
All questions were written by members of What She Said, and are
used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. The posting and tabulation of
current-events questions is independent of the concurrent posting
of other rounds. For further information please see my 2024-08-30
companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian Inquisition

impersonating; you tell us which image they are.

* Game 6, Round 8 - Arts and Literature - Actors Who Write
Some actors do more than just be in front of a camera -- they
also write books. In each case name them.
1. After the gold-lame bikini came 19 books from this actress.
Real life became reel life when Meryl Streep played a version
of her in the movie adaptation of her book "Postcards from
the Edge".
2. This actor, director, musician, screenplay writer, and not very
good human being won the O. Henry Award in 1980 for his
short-story collection "Side Effects".
3. This legendary comedian currently plays an actor turned podcaster
on a much loved streaming show, and has written essays, plays,
children's books, and novels -- most notably "Shopgirl".
4. Since leaving McKinley High, this "gleeful" actor and singer
has written 20 books, mostly YA novels like his "Land of
Stories" series.
5. This two-time Oscar-winning actor also made a splash as a
writer with his first novel, "The Making of Another Motion
Picture Masterpiece". He has also written a short-story
collection inspired by his collection of vintage typewriters.
6. This '80s American sweetheart proved she had more talents then
just putting her lipstick on without using her hands when she
published her first book "When it Happens to You".
7. "Tommy's Tale" is the debut novel from this Scottish
actor-turned-reality-TV-host and recent Emmy Award winner for
"The Traitors".
8. Apparently when he wasn't stopping the Wet Bandits from breaking
in, this actor had time to write a novel called "Junior".
9. He played a true-crime writer in 2012's "Sinister", but he's
been a published author since 1996's "The Hottest State",
and has written or co-written at least 10 books.
10. This recent Oscar-winning scream queen has written a number
of children's books starting with 1993's "When I Was Little".
