These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2024-06-17,
    and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

    * Game 6, Round 7 - Sports - We're #3

Tonight's sports round looks at some major pro sports stars who
were picked third overall in their draft years. Name the players
    from the descriptions.

    1. Starting with the NHL, this Swedish center was drafted third
overall in 1999 by Vancouver -- one pick after his brother.
He played his entire 17-season career with the Canucks, and
retired as their all-time leading point scorer.

    2. In 1980, the Chicago Blackhawks got Hall of Fame center Denis
Savard with the third pick. The Hawks scored again at #3 in
2006, grabbing a Winnipeg-born center who led them to three
Stanley Cups. He sat out this past season for health reasons.

    3. This question is about the player who inspired this round.
The most famous third draft pick in any sport -- was a basketball
star at North Carolina. The Chicago Bulls lucked out -- to
put it mildly -- in 1984, and he led them to 6 championships.

    4. This Toronto Raptors guard and forward is a native of Toronto.
He went third overall to New York in 2019, and was traded to
the Raptors last December. He's expected to play for Canada
    at the Paris Olympics.

    5. The 1980s Boston Celtics are considered to have had the best
frontline in NBA history. Alongside Larry Bird and Robert
Parish, the Celtics boasted the third overall pick in 1980.
This Hall of Fame forward won 3 championships with the Celtics,
and later coached Minnesota and Houston.

    6. Here's a painful memory for Maple Leafs fans. In 1989, the
Leafs got defenseman Tom Kurvers from New Jersey for a draft
pick. The Devils used that third-overall pick 2 years later
to grab this Hall of Fame defenseman, who won 4 Stanley Cups
    with New Jersey and Anaheim.

    7. The New York Islanders spent the third pick in 1983 on an
American-born center. This Hall of Famer played for the
Islanders, Rangers, and Buffalo. His most famous goal was
for the Isles in 1987 in the so-called "Easter Epic" -- at
2 am on Easter Sunday -- in the 4th overtime of Game 7 against
    Washington.

    8. In 2014, the Edmonton Oilers scored with the third overall NHL
draft pick. They picked a German-born center who continues
to star for the Oilers alongside Connor McDavid. He was the
NHL's top scorer and MVP in 2019-20.

    9. The Detroit Lions hit the jackpot with the third pick in 1989.
This Hall of Fame running back played 10 seasons with the Lions,
rushing for more than 15,000 yards and 99 touchdowns.

    10. This NFL Hall of Famer went third to the Chicago Bears in 1965.
A two-time defensive player of the year, he's regarded as one of
the greatest and most intimidating linebackers in NFL history.
After 9 seasons with the Bears, he became a sports commentator
    and actor.

    * Game 6, Round 8 - History - The First O.J. Simpson Trial

Where were you on June 17, 1994? Yes, it's been 30 years since
many of us watched the slow-speed pursuit of a white Ford Bronco
on L.A. freeways. In the back seat -- O.J. Simpson. With O.J.'s
recent death, it's time to test your memory of the so-called "Trial
    of the Century".

    1. Name the former football teammate of Simpson's who was driving
    that Ford Bronco.

    2. What were O.J.'s given names -- what did O.J. stand for?

    3. Name either of the two people whose murders Simpson was
    charged with.

    4. Who was Simpson's lead defense lawyer, best remembered for his
"If the gloves don't fit..." line.

    5. Name the Simpson defense lawyer who was considered one of
the greatest lawyers of the 20th century. His previous clients
included Patty Hearst, Dr. Sam Sheppard, and "Boston Strangler"
suspect Albert DeSalvo. He was later disbarred in two states
    for misconduct.

    6. Name *either one* of the lead prosecutors.

    7. Who was the actor who lived in a guest house on Simpson's
property, and testified at the trial?

    8. Who was the L.A. police detective accused by the defense of
being a racist, and of planting evidence at the murder scene?

    9. Who was the trial judge?

    10. Shortly after the murders, this friend of O.J. took possession
of his Louis Vuitton bag, which has been long suspected of
containing key evidence. The friend claimed he never opened
the bag, but one of his celebrity daughters confessed years
later to snooping through it. Who was this friend of O.J.,
who renewed his law license to join the Dream Team?

the brothers, we're talking about. But I suspect I wlil not get
    away with it.

As you know, the surname is sufficient unless you were asked for the
first name, but if you give the first name as well, it must be correct.

I more or less expected that were would be a rot13 or somesuch saying
that you required both name in this case. I noted that there wasn't.
And I see now that that was an oversight of yours.

So I guess that I morally did the right thing. Nevermind that the
    answer as such was wrong.
