F2. What species of animals have the longest gestation period
    at 18-22 months?

Elephants. 4 for Dan Tilque, Erland, and Gregg.

The day after I posted these answers, it was mentioned on "Jeopardy!"
that the answer is wrong. The elephant may hold the record for
animals that give birth to live young[*], but for egg-laying species
the gestation period includes the time it takes the eggs to hatch.
And for one species of deep-sea octopus, this runs to 53 months!

This was learned by repeated observation of a single octopus and
its eggs in a submarine canyon off California from 2007 to 2011: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0103437

[*] But a brief note in that article says that it doesn't -- that
record now belongs to a type of salamander at 48 months.
