Below you are given names of national capitals translated into English
from the original language of the name. Your task is to give the name
of the *country* the city is a capital of. After the questions there
is a list of the countries in question.
Some of the translations are based on the etymology and the
meaning may be opaque in the local language due to phonetic
changes over the years. Other translations are based on the current
form, and may disregard the actual etymology. In all cases, the
translation is based on the name actually used in English today.
As always post the answer to the newsgroup. No use of sources or
assistance from wives, cats, etc is permitted.
I plan to score this quiz on Thursday 15th.
