    So are you saying:

    rec.arts.movies.current films
    rec.arts.tv
    rec.gambling.poker
    rec.sport.football.college

    are all going away?

    Irish Mike

Nothing is going away except Google Groups. Those are all usenet sites, and
all you need is a newsreader and a usenet account. There are free ones available.

    I use text.giganews.com

I do not think that is the same thing as Google Groups ... but I could
be wrong. It has good threading which (I think) is missing from Google
    Groups.

    Thanks for the responses.

Okay, there is a "learn more" link on the sticky-notice that I didn't see the first time.

I'll link it here. There are apps for Usenet; so that's a good place to start as websites for Usenet newsreaders have historically been super clunky, and apps usually have a "smooth" version.

Do you use one of them, Travel? Mine lets me "thread" responses.

Well, the link didn't work, but I Googled it and have it now.
And I've only been using Google Groups since they've had Usenet; so I'll look into giganews and see if there's a good app out there also, when I have more time.

This would be a good thread for everyone to report back in one place though.

I like gaganews because it lets you thread the replies.

Is there a Usenet Reader you recommend? Also, is there a Usenet Reader
that lets you block out certain topics and individuals?

    Irish Mike

I believe they all have filters to block anything you want. I use Mac these days, so I don’t have any recommendations for Windows PCs.
