Fox News Cuts Away from Trump Speech 4 Seconds After He Says ‘Tucker Carlson’ (AI)
Fox News covered a Donald Trump speech at a South Carolina rally this week, when Trump suddenly called out the network and mentioned Tucker Carlson, at which point the video cut off.
Trump made a comment regarding the recent hit on Fox’s ratings and compared it with the success of his exclusive interview with former Fox News employee Tucker Carlson.
“We had 271 million people listening to the Tucker Carlson interview; that’s an all-time record,” Trump exclaimed. The feed of the speech promptly cut out, with host Martha MacCallum coming on screen.
“So here we are, back in the thick of campaign season,” she immediately chirped up.
“We are now just four months away from the Iowa primaries.”
Transcripts of the remainder of Trump’s speech show that the former President never again brought up Carlson, or Fox News in his speech.
Fox fired Carlson and “Tucker Carlson Tonight” executive producer unexpectedly this spring, at which point Carlson started “Tucker on Twitter,” and later “Tucker on X.” (Trending: 8 Undeniable Facts About Joe Biden)
In late August, Trump appeared on Carlson’s show exactly the same evening of the first Republican presidential debate, with the debate pulling in roughly 13 million viewers.
Fox noted the 13 million views as “healthy,” while Trump stated that “their last debate was the lowest-rated debate in history.” (Trending: Joe Biden’s Legacy, A Closer Look)
Roughly a week later, Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy appeared on Carlson’s show, stating that he believes it would have been more beneficial overall if Trump had been at the debate rather than with Tucker.
“I think it was the right move not to do it, but for the betterment of the country, I think he should be on the debate,” Portnoy stated.
“I kind of agree,” Carlson said.
“I like the debates, personally,” he added. __________________________________
