When I moved to Dayton, Ohio, for my four years at Wright=Patterson AFB
in 1969, I was surprised that there were so few black folks in all the neighborhoods on the east side of town but was told that "they" mostly
kept to themselves on the west side. I was surprised. During all my
extensive travels during those four years, all over the USA (California
to NY and in between), I was surprised at the way non-white folks (not
just black folks) were "considered").

I learned about black folks from my Mammie Tee and George, who helped in
the yard. Tee was ironing one day and seemed to me to be hurting
somehow ... I asked. "What's the matter Mammie Tee?"

She said she had "the miseries".

I asked "What are "the miseries". She replied: "Oh, just a headache and
a little sore." And I in my innocence remarked: "Mammie Tee, you get headaches!?"

Her reply causes me to tear up even now when I relate the story ...
"Why, chile, I flesh and blood, just like you."

Many restaurants were "Restricted" in my childhood summers in Miami Beach.

Folks need to study a little about "prejudice" in our history ... or
pick your own word to use.

BTW, they should update the Last Updated lines (2012 everywhere). Besides elemental accuracy, that would support the actuality of the concepts being presented.

If you are really curious, go read some of Neil Howe's books....Generations was the first I think.....He just came out with "The Fourth Turning is here" and I just got my copy...haven't opened it yet...not even sure it'll say anything I don't know, but
it's fun being aware of the time we're going thru and the events that should occur.
