I had ancestors who fought on both sides of the Civil War. On my dad's side we had an ancestor fighting for the North. Apparently Ulysses S Grant was a big time alcoholic and when Abe lincoln visited the camp, they went on a 3 day drinking binge with
each other. I guess with everyone dying it was a very stressful time. Anyways, after 3 days, my ancestor was tasked with waking them up. Do you know what the first thing Abe Lincoln said to my ancestor?

    "I set who free?"

Abe was quite the racist. He seemed to believe black people were some kind of sub-human species, much like so many right-wingers do to this day.

So we ask AI if that's a true quote:

"There is no definitive evidence to suggest that Abraham Lincoln made this exact statement in the form you provided. While it is true that Lincoln had complex views on race and equality, this specific quote is not found in any of his known speeches or
    writings.

Abraham Lincoln was indeed a complex figure on issues of race and slavery. While he opposed the spread of slavery to new territories, his primary goal during the Civil War was to preserve the Union. As the war progressed, Lincoln's views on slavery and
race evolved, and he eventually issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which declared that all slaves in Confederate-held territory were to be set free.

Abe was quite the racist. He seemed to believe black people were some kind of sub-human species, much like so many right-wingers do to this day.
And he was incensed by the existence of slavery.

Yes. And that makes him less of a racist.....how?

Do you have paternity tests going back to this supposed ancestor?

Dude, it was a joke. I tried to set it up in a way that sounded realistic in hopes it wouldn't be obvious I was trying to fit the "I see who free" punch line...and none of you guys realized it. Seriously, how can none of you not see the punchline a
mile away....Abe wakes up after a 3 day bender and says, "I see who free"? Seriously? My son got the joke instantly.

My Dad was in a house when the one next door was hit by a V1 flying bomb. He said that it was a most interesting experience.

Meanwhile, my Mum fought off and disarmed a GI who kicked in her door in 1945.

I took the story literally. Shakespeare himself could only dream of
    your subtlety.

Anyway, did your grampa really fight for Lincoln's marauders?
He burned Atlanta? And you're proud of your damnyankee DNA?

Though it isn't clear if this "ancestor" was your grampa... maybe
he/she was granny? Or transbinary? Probly not, they didn't tolerate
birth defects back then. I used to know a midwife, an old lady. She
told me back in the old days, a deformed infant was quickly put to
sleep, then they told the mother he was DOA.

No, my paternal grandfather was in the 34th Inf division out of Minnesota. My maternal grandfather was a B-25 pilot in WW2. And, there's plenty of public information in the internet all about him including his flight logs, pics, and anecdotal stories.
But, my stories of them are just facts, there was no very obvious punchline like there was with lincoln waking up with a hangover and regretting freeing the slaves. And, I didn't even invent the joke...I read it on the internet, just put a slight
    spin on it.

Furthermore, highly doubtful my grandfather was transwhatever you morons come up with as he had 8 kids.
