Police "procedurals" are some of the best things they do with series now; "True Detective" was a great one.

CSI Vegas and Hill Street Blues seemed pretty good to me, but maybe not for the same reasons others might like them. The entire cast of both shows were screwed up individuals in one way or another. People see cops one way, but I come from a different
perspective where I see all cops as fundamentally flawed human beings. A lot of the women who chase cops are really just chasing after the badge and stable providers, but that wears off....now mix that together with a very stressful job...it's a
recipe for disaster of all sorts. And, that's what you had on Hill Street Blues for certain. CSI was more polished, but all the characters were flawed...one is an ex stripper with a murderous casino owner for a dad and a bad ex who dies and with a
daughter who is out of control, another is a gambling addict on the show and hard drug addict off the show, Grissom is misanthropic with hearing problems, one is an alcoholic who dates Grissom, and Texas Fratboy with his hooker girlfriend that dies.
Made the show interesting.

Both great ones. With Columbo, they're about the only "legacy-Network" shows I watched post-cable -TV.

Funny you should think of CSI Vegas and in that way, because a movie that I consider in the flawless category, "To Live and Die in L.A.," is about cops (Treasury Agents assigned to a case concerning a master counterfeiter) and the moral fine line between
them and those they investigate; the lead in the movie (directed by William Friedkin - "The French Connection") is William Pederson, the lead of CSI Vegas; in his younger days.

Ya, I liked To Live and Die in LA as a teen. Willem DaFoe is an acting favorite of mine. He plays a lot of interesting roles. For the oddest reason, I wanted to remember James Woods as being in it, but I know he's not. Perhaps, I'm mixing him from the
movie "Cop". Was entertaining as a teen watching a master artist gin up all that money. I heard N Korea makes absolutely perfect US Currency to the point it makes you wonder how much of it is over here...and you can see why the Bike gets closed down
occasionally accepting hefty bags full of $100's from asian foreigners. Now, that reminds me of when I was in line at the Marina(Now MGMGrand) waiting to cash out and the Feds showed up and taped off the cage right in front of me. I remember being
allowed to cash out, but can't recall the exact circumstances allowing it, cuz all I remember is that yellow tape going up. Might have been drinking at the time.

My dad loved Justified. I couldn't get into it.

I put it on auto-DVR and saw just two episodes of the new "Justified..."
It was a shell of the original, and I deleted the rest; it seemed heavily contrived in trying to spin-off the original, and it had "no story to tell." Maybe it gets better; I wanted to like it, but there's too much content between football, ski racing, golf and other series and movies to bother.

I was going to put the following on the other thread that I posted,
previously, about the movies: "The Bikeriders" and "The Killer," but I'll
just post it now.

"The Bikeriders" isn't out until June.

I just watched "The Killer" last week on Netflix (it was a theatrical movie, also) with Michael Fassbender in the lead as the killer.

Best movie I've seen in a long time. If you like "procedurals" with great acting and with a character who really knows what he's doing, you'll like
this.

Fassbender, you may recall, was the lead in "The Counselor" with Brad Pitt,
and "Anton," that awesome villain in "No Country for Old Men. "The Killer"
has the same feel to it as these movies with one good scene after the
other. A character who unexpectedly appears at one point in "The Killer,"
one would recognize as the co-lead in the vampire-satire movie: "Only Lovers Left Alive." Good quality follows itself around.
