Anyone wonder how all the other star trek officer can just drop into someone elses holodeck fantasy? What if the guy was busy having an orgy?
Also, why does data ever bother using the holodeck? Can't he just simulate infinite holodeck experiences in real time?
Scott Adams did an essay many years ago called "Why the future will not be like Star Trek". The first reason is that the holodeck will be the last invention ever. "Why would I invent anything when I can do my daily massage with Cindy Crawford and her
twin sister?"
Ya, that'd work for me and probably most human beings, but the guys who really drive inventions like Elon Musk can already buy the real life thing on a daily basis, but what gets inventors like Elon off is inventing things. They could really use a
twisted version of Star Trek where some female officer on the bridge pisses you off so you go see the holodeck version of her and take it out on her with a little hate sex. Maybe all the guys on the bridge share the same holodeck fantasy and run a train
on her holodeck version.
